8
), so
that the device can be put down safely and easily. Important: The
safety foot (No.
8
) is firmly screwed onto the gas tank (No.
5
).
Make sure you put down the device on a horizontal surface, so that
it does not drop over.
KEEP THE DEVICE AND THE REFILL CYLINDER ALWAYS AWAY
FROM CHILDREN.
• Do not use any device that leaks (you can smell the gas) or is dam-
aged or does not work properly! (risk of injury).
• Do not check for leaks with a naked flame, use soupsuds.
• Do not touch the burner if hot (risk of burns)!
The burner is still very hot after switching off the flame. Avoid touch-
ing the burner.
Caution: Accessible parts can get very hot. Keep the device away
from children. Do not put the ignited burner down (risk of fire). Do
not leave the device unattended if it is on. Caution! Also after use do
not place the hot burner on inflammable materials (risk of fire). Very
important: During breaks and at the end of each usage switch off
the flame immediately. - (risk of burns).
Keep the nozzle protected from dust and do not let the device fall
down. These are the most common causes of defects.
Use the device only in properly ventilated places and in sufficient dis-
tance from combustible sources or inflammable materials.
• Keep the device always away from the face, body or clothes, if it is
switched on and in operation.
• Do not expose the device to temperatures over 50°C. Store the de-
vice protected from direct sunlight.
• Propane/butane is an extremely flammable gas, handle with care.
• Make sure that after each use the flame adjustment lever (No. 2) is
in position , the continuous flame lever (No.
6
) is in position OFF
and the flame is completely extinguished.
• Let the device cool down after use before you store it.
• Do not use the device continuously for longer than 15 – 20 minutes.
Allow a cooling period of 5 – 10 minutes afterwards, refill the gas if
necessary and ignite the device again.
• Do not make any modifications to firmly assembled parts of the de-
vice.
• Never use the device near heat sources or near an open flame.
• Do not open up the device by drilling or likewise.
• Take note of all safety regulations and precautions listed on the re-
fill gas cylinder.
Do not keep the device unattended when it is operated or during the
cooling down phase.
Do not keep the device and the refill gas near heat sources (heaters,
electrical appliances, ovens or strong sun radiation, etc).
The device is not suitable to ignite charcoal grills because of a too
strong return heat – risk of burns.
The device does not have electrical insulation. Work only on devices
or on parts of devices which are completely without electrical power.
Do not shake the device before and during operation. Otherwise there
is a danger that the liquid gas can get into the burner and a reddish
blazing uncontrolled flame could occur. The combustibility of the de-
vice is then disturbed. In such a case immediately slide the continu-
ous flame lever (No.
6
) into position OFF. The gas supply stops and
no further gas can escape uncontrolled.
• IMPORTANT: After igniting the burner in a proper way, let it preheat
for a short time (appx. 1 minute) until the burner head has reached
the optimal operation temperature.
Any repairs must be carried out only by an authorized specialist dealer
for liquid gas. In case of a repair bring the device back to the shop
where you have purchased it. From here it can be sent for mainte-
nance and repair back to the manufacturer.
Test for Leaks
If gas leaks out of your device (you can smell gas), take it immediately
to a place with a good air circulation and no inflammable sources, where
you can look for the leak and fix it. Be very careful to test leak tight-
ness of your device only outside. Never seek leaking connections us-
ing a flame. Always spread soapsuds over the connections (e.g. a half
a glass of water + 10 drops of washing-up liquid) or use a leak-seek-
ing-spray!
Intended use
This handy gas burner is an ideal helper in your kitchen. It is ideal for
caramelizing sweets, e.g. crème brûlée. The culinary torch is also suit-
able for the production of a crisp crust on roast and poultry. It is Ideal
for flaming, for peeling off peppers and tomatoes, as well as gratinat-
ing of cheese (onion soup, etc.).
Filling/refilling of gas
This burner is for dispatch and safety reasons delivered without a
gas filling. Before putting into operation please fill the device at the
bottom side through the gas filling valve (No.
7
) with provided
propane/butane refill gas for lighters (also see picture ). Afterwards
make sure that the gas filling valve (No.
7
) is tightly closed. Take a half
glass of water with 10 drops of washing-up liquid and brush the gas
filling valve with it (No.
7
). If there is a leak you will see little bubbles
forming.
Use only supplied propane/butane gas mixture (e.g. the supplied
cylinder No. 70891 or refill cylinders No. 48899, No. 52103). Alterna-
tively you can also use refilling gas for lighters which contains only
butane. The refilling gas must by no means contain a higher propane
amount than the supplied refilling gas (see inscription on cylinder of
the provided refill gas).
• To fill the gas it is important to close first the flame adjustment lever
at the burner (No.
2
). In this case slide the flame adjustment lever to
position .
